I am the H. Houston Merritt professor of Neurology and director of the Center for Parkinson’s Disease and Other Movement Disorders at Columbia University Medical Center in New York. I remain active in patient care and teaching, having trained more than 130 movement disorder fellows over the years. At the annual editorial board meeting in San Diego, Vladimir Hachinski, WFN president, and Peter F. Bakker, executive publisher, Global Medical Research Division for Elsevier introduced John England, MD, professor and head of the Department of Neurology, LSUHSC School of Medicine, New Orleans, who will serve as the next editor-in-chief for the Journal of the Neurological Sciences, beginning in July. It is a great honor to participate as a candidate for a World Federation of Neurology (WFN) elected trustee. I am professor of Neurology, dean of the School of Medical Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH) and WFN regional director for Latin America. I got my MD degree at the UNAH, I made my neurology training at the National Institute of Neurology in Mexico, and the pediatric and adult epileptology/neurophysiology training at the Saint Paul Center and the Aix-Marseille University, France, and later at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
